Anthony F. Santillo & Company History:
Anthony F. Santillo, Sr., a visionary in the outdoor amusement industry, started this third-generation family-owned business in 1934, when he was chosen by his church society to operate the lemon ice stand at a carnival. He sold ice cones for 3 cents each, grossing the incredible sum of 6 dollars in only one day.

Recognizing the unmet need for a wider variety of high quality foods at festivals and fairs, Anthony persuaded a major meat packaging company to produce his family recipe for Italian Sausage and to build food concession stands to sell its products. With that began the 75+ year history of the food concession and catering operation that bears the name of its founder and that has become synonymous with high quality and great taste. Anthony always stressed quality and service, which would become the hallmark of the Santillo Sausage brand and the basis for his expansion of food concession operations throughout the eastern United States.

Anthony Santillo introduced the Italian sausage sandwich as a new food item in places where patrons were totally unfamiliar with the product, and it became so popular that customers bought it by the bucket to take home. The success of Santillo Sausage prompted others to follow suit. As a result, Italian sausage is as commonplace at fairs and festivals today as the hot dog or hamburger.

During the time that Anthony took off from the food concession business to serve his country during WWII, he left the operation of his business to his wife Josephine and children Louis, Shirley, Anthony Jr., Frances, and Samuel.

Today, the tradition of providing high quality food products and great service is being carried on by the third generation of the Santillo family.
